Marissa's Shabby Chic Graduation Party

I am so excited to share this gallery of Marissa’s Graduation party photographed by the talented & beautiful Kristen Jensen of Kristen Jensen Photography.

{Full Gallery}

Marissa & her family were some of the nicest folks I’ve ever met with heartfelt intentions about giving daughter, Marissa, a really special graduation party.  Not only is Marissa a great gal- she is super smart & talented!  Graduating as the Salutatorian of her class and set to attend school in Georgia this fall, we had a ball planning with Marissa and mom, Karen.  Karen is a role model mom with three amazing kids & a hectic schedule.  She was so much fun to work with and made the planning process alot of fun.

At our first meeting, I was shown Marissa’s tastefully decorated room that was a perfect mix of shabby chic and vintage.  Working with that, as well as Marissa’s sweet tooth (we love!), I created a beautifully rustic shabby chic graduation event complete with personal touches that could only make this event for Marissa.  Also, working with Marissa’s photography hobby, we not only created a graduation party but we did so with personal touches such as a custom installed photography gallery showcasing some of Marissas photos.

Amongst other personal touches, a few of our favorite highlights included:

-Chalkboard meets shabby chic invitations & matching chalkboard envelopes- addresses were written with a real chalk paint marker
-An actual watermelon keg concepted by our genius catering partners at Festivities which served as Marissas signature drink dubbed “The Graduate”
-Incorporating a chalkboard look throughout the entire decor-scape with a custom created welcome chalkboard illustrated by one very talented local illustrator {Need a chalkboard design? call us}
-Custom graduation props for a fun photobooth
-Chalkboard buffet labels, chalklboard mini signs, a chalk painted guest book for guest sign ins
-Vintage looking wildflowers in hob knob mason jars & lanterns designed by our fabulous design partner, Lisa!
-A beautiful shabby chic candy buffet
-Linens that screamed shabby chic -pale pinks, peaches, mints and burlap
-Burlap wrapped tent poles, airy paper poufs and lights throughout our tent
-A super fun and elegant buffet by our friends at Festivities included items such as make your own sliders with a spinning condiment wheel, outdoor Hibachi, mini- salads served in mason jars, an ice cream buffet and a customize your own s’mores buffet (YUM!!!- I DID TRY EVERYTHING AND IT WAS AMAZING!! )
-A beautifully custom graduation cake by Whole Food Lady Nutrition, Dawn (not Whole Foods..) that was absolutely one of a kind!

I was giddy with girly delight to have had the opportunity to work with two amazing ladies and a bevy of beautiful girls in a photoshoot for the fabulous Tutu Maria. How can one pass up a tutu inspired shoot- on the beach!!! Can we all relive being 5 years old and dreaming of being a ballerina. At 5, I could & did.. I did not own tutus like this!

For this photoshoot, We decided on a girls tea party set up. Part tutu & part tea party. The colors are divine, the sweets amazing and the girls looked simply magnificent.

Of course, as a proud mama, I have to shout out that my baby girl made her way into this shoot :) Miss Avery you did a rocking job at 15 months old!

Ute Christin of www.utechristinphotography did a beautiful job capturing the gorgeous Southport Beach setting! Boy, was it a cold day but in the design world its all in a days work & Ute made everything look flawless!

This shoot was the product of a multi-month collaboration between some phenomenal CT talent.

5 Last Minute Thanksgiving Hostess Gift ideas

It’s Wednesday and tomorrow is Thanksgiving..yikes!  Your heading to your moms, aunts, sisters, friends, boyfriends etc etc house for the holiday and you know you should bring something.  While you may not be into Aunt Sally’s Ambrosia or Green Bean Casserole, you should definitely show up to make an impression.  We recommend going classic and keeping it simple.   It goes a long way and need not be complicated or reusable for next Thanksgiving.  Come Friday, we all know that everyone switches gears so save those fancy Thanksgiving dish towels or salt and pepper shakers  for another time.  Here are 5 last minute never fail hostess gifts that will make your hostess smile.  Be sure to browse our pinterest board for some inspiration!

http://www.pinterest.com/msinacoreevents/5-last-minute-thanksgiving-hostess-gifts/

1) Sweet treats.  You may not be assigned to bring dessert but you can never go wrong with bringing a little sweet something.  Doesnt have to be fancy but nothing says seasonal like something sweet.  Think nice salted caramels or a beautiful pumpkin cheesecake. Gourmet chocolate turkeys are tons of fun and everyone loves them- we know you do…

2) Flowers.  Hostesses love flowers in pretty fall colors.  Tie a festive ribbon or raffia around the bouquet and your all set.

3) Wine or bubbly.  Whether its used on Thanksgiving or not, t’is the season for spreading the cheer with some nice wine.  Go online and download a free Thanksgiving or Fall Harvest template to personalize your wine bottle or create a nice wine favor tag. Check out some samples on our pinterest board.

4) Something made with pumpkin. Thats right- break out the pumpkin and whip up something nice.  Your not cooking the turkey so you have time right?   We love the recipe for Pumpkin Butter found on our board.  Its scrumptious, seasonal and doesn’t have to be reused at next Thanksgiving.  Pumpkin Ale is another great treat – check out all the varieties at places like Whole Foods and bring a sampling.

5) Thanksgiving Recipe Cards.  I cook Thanksgiving for my family and make copious notes each year about what worked and didn’t work.  There are a bunch of printable Thanksgiving recipe card templates available on www.etsy.com.  Have a bunch printed out on card stock and wrap in cellophane.  Some of us actually like to have cards vs squirrel away the notes in i phone notes.  ( I am still old school with my recipe clippings!).  Your hostess will be sure to love organizing her hits & misses post holiday and you will be sure to get an invite next year!

Happy Thanksgiving-

Michele

Vincent's 1st Birthday Celebration

Check out some images below and our entire gallery here!

We recently had the pleasure of decorating & assisting with the planning of a fun family / child’s first birthday party in Pleasantville, NY.  About 70 guests total celebrated Vincent’s first birthday in fall Halloween style.  As part of the planning, michele sinacore events created & staffed mini activity stations for children ranging in ages from toddler-8 including pumpkin painting, apple bobbing, a very cool pop-a-pumpkin game & a make your own s’mores buffet- yum!  The kids even got to pick their pumpkin from their own personal pumpkin patch!

Halloween shaped cupcakes and a Halloween style candy buffet completed the party along with lunch goodies like “Bat-Wings”, “Spooky Quesadillia’s” & ” Ghostly Fries”.

As part of the decor, we hollowed out pumpkins to double as drink coolers and covered beautiful hay bails in seasonal fabrics.  Candy apples adorned cocktail tables and more haybails, pumpkins & alot of mums decorated this fun seasonal set up.

And of course, no first birthday would be complete without a proper crown sitting upon the birthday boy’s highchair!

Thank you to the Westchester County weather-gods for treating us to some royal fall weather.  A good time was had by all!

50th Anniversary Golden Celebration

This past weekend I had the pleasure of coordinating & designing a 50th Anniversary Celebration for a very special couple.  If you make it 50 years, you are automatically special but this couple was near and dear.   From the moment, I took this project on, I was inspired by rich gold textures from various pinterest boards- from fashion to food to fabric.  Since the party was to occur during the day in an extremely light-filled space, I knew I wanted to keep the decor shiny but understated- no glitter but rather toned down glitz.  We also needed to keep it elegant and cater to a crowd of all ages- from the little ones to the older statesmen.  Here are some of the highlights of the event-scape:

Venue: Fox Hollow Country Club, Long Island , New York

Linens:  Gold Bengaline Table Linen & Napkin.  I loved the tone of the bengaline and it was rich yet elegant.

Menu cards, Place cards & Table #’s:  Shimmery cream paper with elegant gold design.

Favors:  White chocolate truffle with flecks of edible gold & Dark chocolate champagne truffle wrapped in gold- all contained in a cute clear truffle box wrapped with personalized ribbon with the guest of honors name & event date

Florals:  Corsages and Boutonnieres were handed out to everyone in the original wedding party!  Centerpieces of gorgeous white hydrangea highlighted with yellow orchids contained in a golden bowl.  The real personalization were  photos of the couple throughout the years tucked into each floral arrangement.  One taller larger vase contained golden branches, hydrangea and yellow orchids.  Hanging from this tall arrangement were photos tied with golden ribbon.

Decor: Personalized cocktail napkins with the couples wedding photo, Golden votive holders , Larger blown up photos of the couple coupled with their actual framed wedding invitation & wedding album!

A classic oldies DJ was played the couples wedding song for a first dance.  A cannoli filled cake along with Belgium waffle sundaes ended the afternoon lunch along with lots of dancing and cheer from guests young and old!

Farm To Table Dinner Party Gallery

An unbelievable display of florals & veggies (note the asparagus vase!) from our good friends at Dirt Floral Studios!

{Please click for full gallery}

I recently had an opportunity to plan a dinner party for a prestigous corporate organization inside the private home of a client who we completely adore.  In coming up with an idea for a small dinner party consisting of a guest profile of 100% local CEO’s & their spouses, we decided we needed the party to be elegant yet have an educational spin.  After all,  a local CEO crowd can make a difference in the community.

What better way to honor our community than with a farm to table dinner event! Consisting of a beautiful organic and sustainable menu from Ladle of Love/ Love on the Run in Mt Kisco, NY, we worked together to identify all of the sources from our menu and make sure the guests saw which farms everything came from.  Florals consisted of beautiful greens, herbs, fruits and veggies which were works of art.  Everything on the tablescape (except vases) were sustainable materials- flax, natural linens and bamboo.

Local and organic wines were brought in as pairing with the food dishes.

Favors consisted of jute sacks filled with organic wine, local pies & a gorgeous book about local eating throughout the US.

To cap off the night, founder & CEO of Ladle of Love, Leslie Lambert, gave a talk and held discussion with the guests about why eating local is best.  Leslie spoke about the personal relationships that cultivate great impact on our food sources.  If you havent been to Leslie’s restaurant, Cup of Love Cafe in Mt Kisco, you are missing out.

Enjoy our gallery (I did shoot these photos myself, unfortunately..) & please let us know if we can help plan your next sustainable endeavor!

Elite Health Services Gifting

We recently had the pleasure of completing a gifting initiative for our friends over at Elite Health Services in Old Greenwich, CT (www.eliteheathservices.com).   Their world class physical rehabilitation, fitness, golf/tennis and endurance sports training programs are bar none best in class.  As a former triathlete (or actively racing triathlete…), I have always loved working with EHS & admire their attention to detail everywhere from their top notch services to their desire to be the best in class at that they do.  When we were asked to develop  branded gifts for some of their clients, we knew we had to come up with something special, relevant & branded!

Partnering with the expert gifters at Gifts For The Good Life we created branded cold/hot packs ( the cool squishy kind  that you want to just poke at), beautiful dri fit shirts, women’s racer back dri fit tanks,  fun custom blend muscle soak and branded tote bags.  The end result was super fun and highly relevant to EHS’s business. Now if we could just score some of that soak for our tired muscles & feet!!
